Report: BDC licensing day (Saturday 5th March)
Another pre-season licensing day and the quality of driving just keeps getting better and better! Yet again more semi-pro and pro licenses were handed out, and we’d like to say a massive thankyou to all those who came and took part, and for those who didn’t make it to come along to the next day on April 3rd @ Teeside!
Another big thanks goes to Redline magazine who came along to see what goes down during a licensing day – it’s good to see a UK magazine supporting the British Drift Series and getting ‘behind the scenes’ prior to the rounds throughout the year. There’s some serious talent upcoming in the UK, and whether you’re a driver or just a fan it’s well worth getting along to the next day. (more…)

In the Media: BDC in Fast Car magazine
With the first round just six weeks away we literally can’t wait for the BDC season to start, and one of magazines showing their support this year is Fast Car magazine. With Drifting getting even more popular year on year the standard of cars and driving for 2011 is going to be awesome to watch! So make sure your car’s (relatively) in-tact during each round, it might just be making its way into the next FC issue. (more…)

Sponsor spotlight: Cosworth
1. When was your company founded? 1958
2. Who was it founded by, and why? Mike Costin and Keith Duckworth originally founded the company hence the “cos” and “Worth” in the names leading to Cosworth. The 2 were both engineers at Lotus and if it wasn’t for Colin Chapman Cosworth may never have been born. (more…)

BDC Intro: Ross Ianson, Doristars.com
Well Ive been asked to write a piece on myself for the BDC site… jeez where do you start? Im normally used to writing about the drivers and events! Writing about myself is a totally different proposition. Most of you wouldn’t recognize me if you tripped over me. But I have little doubt that if you are into Drifting (and im assuming you are by the fact you are reading this) you will have seen my work. I am one of the many photographers you see floating around events weighed down with cameras and poking large lenses in peoples faces. (more…)

Builds: Jon Smith’s Dante Project Sil80.
I have been doing a bit more work over the last few weeks, but have 5 days off next week to get everything pretty much sorted (in theory anyhoo).
So far I manged to get the whole car back again ready for paint inside to keep things looking tidy ish. A massive thanks to Ian and Dave, without them I would be stuck because I suck at this sort of thing. Its cool though, I didn’t realise how much rubbish was in the loom!!! (more…)

Redline Magazine to attend Llandow license day.
For those coming along to the Llandow licensing day on March 5th, you’ll want to make sure your drift cars are waxed and polished (best as they can…) as Redline Magazine will be in attendance! It’s great news for the BDC to see a mainstream magazine come along and see every step of the BDC and not just the championship rounds, and if this month’s Silverstone licensing was anything to go by Llandow is going to be mega!
For more info make sure you check out the following link: http://www.thebritishdriftchampionship.co.uk/llandow-licensing-day-saturday-5th-march/

BDC Intro: Darren Matthews aka the Ghostbuster.
For those who don’t me I’m Darren Matthews or the Ghostbuster. I’m the chap you see in the orange suit and 4×4 on race day running around like a headless chicken. I’ve been a part of BDC since its birth. Wow I remember the day at Silverstone years ago when we sat down and started setting it up. OMG who would have thought it would have become such a magnificent and friendly championship. The level of driving has just blown me away over the years. I have made so many friends and I mean friends, you may be a driver, you may be pit crew or you be a spectator but in my busy day I will always try and have a chat. (more…)

Driver intro: Hugo Fernandes, Toyota Soarer.
‘Around 2005-2006 , i bought a 1988 E30 318i with a friend. At this time in Portugal there were very few guys that actually practiced drifting. Being such a slow car, it was good to develop skills on short turns etc. After starting to get used to drifting, we decided to buy an E36 325i , way better and faster than the previous E30. (more…)
