As we announced earlier in the year the Maxxis Tyres British Drift Championship will be aired on television across the world during the season.
Here is the first instalment, a preview of the coverage from round one of the championship at Lydden Hill!

After an epic event at Lydden Hill over the weekend we can now officially announce the winners of round one of the Maxxis Tyres British Drift Championship!
Semi Professional class winner – Matt Samuel – Car Loan 4U
We move into 2013 with the standard of driving reaching VERY high standards. With that, we thought it was time to raise the standard of trophies.
We contacted a number of companies across the UK to find suitable silverware for drivers to place in their cabinets, on their mantel piece, a workshop shelf or where ever they choose.
We eventually chose a company called Dewhursts Trophies, with a shop in Kings Lynn and one in Boston in Lincolnshire, they couldn’t have been more helpful.
After a painstaking trawl through a number of catalogues provided we eventually came up with a decision on which type to choose.
We have some great news for immediate release.
2012 Prodrift champion Brendan Stone, driver of the MG Crash repairs S15 will be joining the Maxxis Tyres (UK) British Drift Championship for the 2013 season.
Brendan said ‘Its with great pleasure and excitement I can announce Team MG Crash Repairs will take on the full British Drift Championship 2013 Season.’ Myself and team boss Mark Gaffney will take on the epic line up of tracks in the two MG S15′s, this is a huge news for us and has taken a lot of thought and planning but its just been confirmed. Hopefully we can take our success from 2012 across the water for BDC 2013.’
We look forward to seeing Brendan and Mark mixing it with the BDC regulars and we have more big names yet to announce!

The final licensing day before the start of the season has the championship going back to its true roots.

With the weather in the UK being terrible with snow and freezing conditions, there was always a doubt to whether this event would take place at all!
The venue had been cleared of snow on Friday evening, but arrival at the track we found a coating of 75mm of snow covering the track! Not the best start to the day, how ever due to the fantastic work from the ground crew at Norfolk Arena by 1000 the track was cleared, marked out and ready for the drifting to begin!
With the track tested by judge Rich Newton and Mark Buckle the action began at 1015, a little later than planned but the normal relaxed BDC atmosphere and banter meant smiles all round.
Conditions were tricky to start with as the remainder of the snow melted under the spinning rubber of the 35+ cars that were attending.
Some regulars could be seen around the arena, Lewis Cracknell‘s car was present but not for Lewis, but his dad Phil was getting in on the action hoping to achieve a licence. Keeping it in the family! (more…)

The search is on for drivers who are ready to take part in the UK’s premier drift championship, the British Drift Championship.
We can now announce details of the first licensing day of 2013!
This event will take place on Saturday the 26th January at the Norfolk Arena, Saddlebow Road, Kings Lynn PE34 3AG
After another ground breaking season in the Maxxis Tyres British Drift Championship we can now announce the three 2012 champions.
We have had 6 events at 5 venues over the course of the season and have had drivers from England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Holland, Germany, Portugal, Belgium and Norway. In the end there can be only 1 winner per class.

In the toughest championship class in Europe and after 8 years of competitive drifting we can officially announce the 2012 Super Professional champion is Team Japspeed driver Paul “Smokey” Smith.

The team/constructors championship went down to the wire with eventual winners being Team Japspeed.
