New Season. New judge part 3

Ladies and gents

To complete the judging panel for the 2012 season we would like to introduce you to a man who has been involved with drifting since it began here in the UK.

What he hasn’t achieved forms a VERY small list!

Its with great pleasure we welcome to the BDC and more importantly the judging panel, Mr Brett Castle!

Hi! I’m Brett Castle and I’m going to be one of the judges for this year’s BDC. I’m really looking forward to the challenge. I’ve been involved in drifting for years and I feel that I can really pick up on the subtle techniques that the driver’s are using.

I came across drifting in 2001 by chance. My first introduction to drifting was when I took my 200sx S14a to Option Motorsport in Silverstone to have some tuning work done. There I met a group of Motorsport enthusiasts with visions of bringing drifting to the UK scene. We formed one of the UK’s first drift teams ‘OPT Drift Club’.

My drifting career started in 2002 driving a white Nissan 200sx S13, an Option Motorsport car. I went to the only drift event in the UK- UKD1. It was held on a live areodrome where a tractor would douse the ‘track’ with water before we were allowed out to try and drift on it. Things have progressed a lot in the time I’ve been drifting!

New team announced for the BDC 2012

Ladies and gents

Its with great pleasure we can now announce another new team for the Maxxis British Drift Championship 2012.

Following the success of other tyre sponsors within the championship this group of three drivers have achieved full backing from another tyre sponsor for the UK’s premier drift championship.

The Lassa Tyres Drift Team is now officially announced.

The company based in Turkey has been involved with various motor sports over a number of years but has recognised drifting as the perfect place to bring brand awareness to their range of tyres.

The drivers in the team are Richard McCourt, Jody Fletcher and last but no means least Simon Perry.

The three cars were shown to the public for the first time last night at a regular event organised by Simon near Barnsley, the new colour scheme for the three cars was deemed a massive success.

Richard in his second year of competitive drifting drifting has rebuild his car over the winter period, with new changes and with the backing of Lassa Tyres is aiming for podium finishes and promotion to the Professional class.

Jody Fletcher is already a contender in the Super Professional class having gained promotion mid season from the Professional class. Jody was also awarded the BDC rookie of the year 2011 and his wild driving style means he will be one to watch in 2012.

Simon Perry needs little introduction, drifting since the beginning of the BDC in 2008 he has a massive following locally and nationally. His brightly coloured car and huge commitment on every track he drives has taken him very close to winning the championship on more than one occasion.

Simon said ” Having Lassa Tyres on board is a huge step forward, with the fantastic grip the tyres have to offer I am aiming high in 2012 and can not wait to get on track at Teesside on April 21st and 22nd! Its going to be a great season!”

We look forward to see all three drivers out on track in 2012 and wish them all the best of luck.

Many thanks

The BDC team.
