2013 marks the sixth year of the British Drift Championship, now with the support of some of the largest motorsport companies in the world! This year’s championship will be held over five rounds at some of the best tracks in the UK, including the BDC’s long-awaited return to one particular venue.

| Round 5 | 21st-22nd September | Knockhill Circuit | KY12 9 |
Support from Cosworth, K&N, Samco, Lucas Oils and many others is proof that the sport of drifting (and the British Drift Championship in particular) is now the place to be seen and is well-recognised as the pinnacle of drifting in the UK and Ireland.
The championship has continued to grow in strength and depth, with a full complement of drivers across three classes exemplifying the appeal of the UK’s only professional drifting championship.
Each round (except Round 3) will be held over two days as per usual, with the highlight of each event being the all important battles on the second afternoon!
Round 1 13th & 14th April: Lydden Hill, Kent CT4 6ET
Lydden Hill has seen some of the craziest entries and closest battles throughout the championship’s history. After a long, fast run up from the start line Devil’s Elbow awaits the brave, shortly followed by a quick transition into the awaiting hairpin.
After safely negotiating the hairpin all that’s left is for the drivers to put their feet to the floor, smoking their tyres all the way up the hill into the Paddock Hill Bend. The infamous curbs only need the smallest of errors from a driver before they pounce and put them in the equally well-known gravel trap!
Round 2 8th & 9th June: Pembrey Circuit, Carmarthenshire SA16 0HZ
After an absence of two years the BDC returns to Wales and the Pembrey Circuit located deep in the the Carmarthenshire countryside. The venue is the home of Welsh motorsport and has hosted rounds of the British Touring Car Championship in the past (not to mention Formula One test sessions) and still hosts Formular 3, GT and British Rallycross Championship events to this day. Both Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost drove at Pembrey in the late 80s!
All of us here at the BDC would like to thank Pembrey and its respective owners for allowing us to bring professional drifting back to Wales and we are looking forward to putting on a great show!
Round 3 5th – 7th July: Teesside Autodrome, Middlesborough TS6 6XH
Round 3 of the 2013 championship marks our return to the North East and to the birthplace of the British Drift Championship: Teesside Autodrome. Round 3 will also be a three day event, with the Friday being reserved for practice and qualifying, Saturday will see the Top 16 battles take place while the Sunday has been set aside for the annual Team Triple Drift event!
Running alongside the drivers’ championship is the constructors championship, whereby teams containing a maximum of three drivers accumulate points towards the team’s overall championship standing. Once a year these team members get to show how good their teamwork is by drifting in tandem just inches apart, all in an effort to impress the judges and wow their crowds in order to prove that they are the best!
Round 4 10 & 11th August: Lydden Hill CT4 6ET
Round 4 will be our second visit to Lydden Hill during the 2013 season and we know that this is going to be a scorcher in the Garden of England! In 2012 this event attracted a large number of drivers from across Europe and 2013 will be no different; the number of drivers from the continent already showing interest is staggering!
With the round being held in the middle of the summer we can guarantee a fantastic atmosphere, incredible drifting and a great show for all the family!
Round 5 21st & 22nd September : Knockhill Circuit, Dunfermline, Fife KY12 9TF
The location for the championship finale couldn’t be more spectacular if we tried, with the rolling hills of Fife being the perfect backdrop for the stunning Knockhill circuit.
The drivers always look forward to our annual trip to experience “The Hill”: a 100mph blind entry into the unknown before the power sapping suspension testing dip followed by a tight 90 degree right hander that awaits the brave is a pure adrenaline rush for the competitors and spectators alike.
Every year we have seen champions from various classes do battle and become victorious on this wonderful track as it is a true test of skill, determination and bravery!
We look forward to seeing you at an event throughout the season; tickets will go on sale via our online store prior to each round so keep checking back!
We hope to see you at the Autosport International show at the NEC in Birmingham this weekend as well as catching up with the drivers and the rest of the BDC team – just keep an eye out for the Maxxis truck and the accompanying Maxxis Babes!
