As the dust settles on a record-breaking British Drift Championship (BDC) season finale at Rockingham Motor Speedway this past weekend, it is now time to announce that following on from David Egan’s 3-year tenure as the BDC’s CEO, a new person will now lead the BDC forward into the 2019 season and beyond.

As of today Slide Motorsport CEO, Matt Stevenson will now take control of the UK’s premier professional drift series, and it’s safe to say that Matt has big plans for the future of not only the BDC, but the sport of drifting as a whole in the UK.

In announcing the change of ownership of the BDC today, outgoing series CEO David Egan had the following to say:

“We believe in Matt and his ambitious vision for the future of the British Drift Championship. His passion for the sport is unrivalled and we are excited to watch the progression of UK competitive drifting under his deserved leadership. We would like to thank all our BDC drivers, fans, media personnel and series partners for their incredible support throughout the past 3 years. It has been an incredible journey.”

And after keeping the secret under wraps for some time now, new CEO Stevenson had the following to say, as he begins his tenure at the head of the championship.

“Finally I am proud to officially announce I am the new proud owner of the British Drift Championship. I’ve competed in the BDC for a number of years and have been around the scene even longer, watching the progression of the sport; Dave and the team at Zigen Promotions have done an amazing job bringing the championship to where it is today. We have hands down just witnessed the best round to date this past weekend at Rockingham, so the 2018 season has gone out with a bang. It’s safe to say that I have big boots to fill, but the passion I have and an already growing great team around me will allow us to really take the BDC to the next level!”

From all the outgoing team at the BDC, we’d like to take this time to wish Matt all the very best as he takes the series forward, and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for the championship.
